On the Sunday lunchtime our Year 6 children met with other Year 6 children from Bishop’s Caundle and Thornford for their residential at PGL’s Barton Hall, which is located on the outskirts of Torquay.
When we arrived we felt quite spoilt as we pretty much had the centre to ourselves! Our first evening activity of Robot Wars was a lot of fun. The next morning the sun was shining and the children were able to cool off in the swimming pool. One of the children remarked that it felt like being abroad! After that, as you can see from the photographs below, the challenges became more difficult, and througout the day lots of children from other schools around the country began to arrive. However, PGL’s organisation is very good and access to the activities and the dining hall was very straight forward. We were all glad to find that the food was plentiful and tasty.
Because we were always active the time passed very quickly. On the Wednesday we were all beginning to feel a little tired but happy to have met new friends, to have learnt crazy chants, and to have pushed ourselves (staff included) to new limits.
There wasn’t one person, including the adults, who didn’t have a enjoyable time and we would like to thank the PGL staff for looking after us all so well.
