Year 5 Rugby Tournament - 17th November

On the afternoon of the 17th November, 8 children headed off to Sherborne Primary School to take part in the annual Year 5 Rugby tournament. The team managed to avoid the torrential downpour, and played their first game against Thornford, which they won. In the next game against Bradford Abbas the team were slow to get started and found themselves quickly behind. They played a much better second half but by this point it was too late to narrow the gap and ended up losing 7 tries to 3. In their final game of the afternoon the team bounced back and played some really good passing rugby and consequently were narrowly beaten by Sherborne Abbey. As you can see from the photographs below, the team put in a lot of effort and eventually came 3rd in their group.

Congratulations are due to All Saints, Bishops Caundle, who were eventual winners of the trophy.

The school would like to say a big THANK YOU to Mr. Bartle and Mr. Siggins who brilliantly refereed the matches, to the Gryphon Sport Leaders who did a great job of running the lines and to Miss Williams from the Gryphon who at the last minute agreed to help with the time keeping  and the score sheet.
