Maple Class

Year 2 Autumn Term 2018

The children seem to have settled well into their new Maple classroom and are becoming familiar with our routines and expectations.

Your child will continue to bring home reading books and spellings as appropriate. Please can I remind you how important it is to hear your child read at home. Please record when you have heard your child read in their yellow reading record. Each morning following a ‘read’ at home, they are allowed to stamp their reading chart. After fifteen stamps they get a ‘dip’ in the prize bag!

They will also be given a weekly computer-based maths task which is designed to support the work that we are doing in class. Please look in your child’s yellow reading record for login details. New spellings will be set on a Friday and will be assessed the following Friday.

English homework will be linked to their classroom learning and sent out in a red book on a Friday. Please return completed homework by the following Tuesday.

Our timetabled PE days will be a Monday and Friday. Children may leave their PE bags on their pegs in the cloakroom for the whole half-term. I will however, let you know if it needs to be washed in the meantime!

Your child should bring a filled water bottle to school each day and a healthy snack for breaktime.

First thing in the morning is always very busy in our classroom, so if you would like to discuss something at any length, please could you make an appointment to meet with me. I am available on Tuesday afternoons and 8.40am to 9.00am every morning.
