Unfortunately, the sudden arrival of snow put an end to the original plans for World Book Day on the 1st March, but as we all love reading books at Buckland Newton we could let the day pass by uncelebrated, so it was agreed to hold the event on the 7th March instead.
As you can see from the photographs below a vast array of characters arrived at school on the day, a boy even arrived in his home made Spitfire as he was the grandpa from David Walliams’s Grandpa’s Great Escape.
The children gathered in the hall for a World Book Assembly where they heard about books that the staff loved to read to other people. Mrs Bond had the whole school laughing as she read ‘Oi Dog’ and ‘The Day That The Crayons Came Home’. We all agreed that both books are brilliant examples of how much fun can be had from reading.
