The friends of Buckland Newton CE Primary School (FBNS) is an essential part of our school.
All parents, carers and teachers of the school are automatically members and everyone’s contribution no matter how big or small is highly valued and appreciated. FBNS usually meet every 4-6 weeks, and our aim is to raise funds through fundraising events to support the school, thus enabling us to provide a greater range of equipment and activities for all children to enhance their learning experience. But we are much more than that, offering closer links between home and school, and an excellent way to bring staff, parents, children, community and friends together socially. We are a small school with a big heart and always have a warm welcome for our members.
Examples of monies spent from fundraising
Monies raised from previous fundraising events provide day to day items such as books to fill our wonderful library to wetsuits ensuring children can enjoy outside learning in all weathers (very handy in the UK), to much larger items such as repairs to the wooden play equipment, promethean screens for the classrooms, a bike shed, subsidisation of school trips and much more. FBNS also fund activities at Easter and Christmas to bring joy and add to the festivities for the children and their families. We are currently working towards raising funds for iPads for the school – these are essential to support and enhance the children’s learning – and this will be the target for upcoming fundraising events.
