Willow

Welcome to Willow Class!

Let your Light Shine; on everyone, everywhere, everyday. (Matthew 5:16)

Our Christian values for this term are: Perseverance and Justice

Willow 2025

Our term is well and truly underway, and the children are working extremely hard and are motivated in towards our reward system, earning house points for donations towards their chosen charity as well as house treats. We are continuing to take a cross-curricular approach to our lessons, sow, grow and farm is our focus project for this term. Our Christian values this term are ‘perseverance’ and ‘justice’. I’m promoting the children to be proud of their work using Class Dojo as our learning platform where they can build their portfolios so their learning can be viewed at home.

As the Year 6 SATs examinations draw nearer (week beginning Monday 11th May to Thursday 14th May 2026), expectations will increase. Additional targeted pieces of homework will be set for your child; these are intended to reinforce classroom/home learning but not be too onerous. The children will receive their revision books and will need to be well-organised and committed to completing homework. I have no doubt at all that they are capable of this! Please feel free to assist your child if required but initial the work so I know that some support has been given. Homework expectations for Year 5 will change this term and children will have their own CGP English and maths and a section from each book will need to be completed. Doodle and TT Rockstars is still available to use as much or little as you like. Daily reading is a must!

PE: Please encourage your child to take responsibility for having the right kit and equipment in school on the correct day. PE will take place on Tuesday and Fridays. If this changes, I will message you on Class Dojo. We will also be taking part in Safer internet Day on the 11th February 2026 as well as World Book Day on Thursday 5th March 2026, further details to follow. Year 5 will be heading to Leeson House for their residential on 25th and 26th March. Another busy and exciting term ahead. Please feel free to use Class Dojo to communicate with me and celebrate any of the children’s home learning.

Homework Expectations for Willow Class:

20 minutes reading daily
1 English CGP piece of home learning
1 Maths CGP piece of home learning
Daily Times table Rockstars.
Reading is the gateway to all other subjects and I will be reading to the children daily. My hope is for the children to read daily at home for pleasure, this will have a positive knock-on effect with their writing across all subjects.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mr Stuart Galloway, Mrs Caroline Durston, Mrs Lorriane Kellaway,

Mrs Katrina Buckle and Mrs Sarah Nelson.
